I just wanted to post this here as well. I also posted this in my journal.
I don’t know how many of you know who Albert is. I have gotten to know him a bit over the years, especially this year at Rainfurrest.
He is a talented artist, who has been doing the staff patches and other art for us. he has even been our GOH for RF 2010, our space theme.
I have been following his web comic Hodges Pond ( http://hodgespond.com/ ) and it has just been so deep with character development and storytelling. I think a lot of comics seem to miss. It is real and I relate to it very strongly seeing how jaded the world is. I am not saying that in the way of depressing, I am meaning in the since of learning what life really is. It is the journey with others, making the most of your dreams, friendships, loves, through the rough times and the smooth sailing.
The recent arc has just been awesome with Orville. He learns that even when you might not have the right things to get your dream, some times you just need a little help to change things and you can get them easier than you think.
I am just floored by the depth of this, and what his characters go through. I don’t say this lightly but I feel people should go read these and we need more of this writing in out community.
Hi Sharako, it’s so refreshing to hear that people have received the message and the heart and soul of what Hodges Pond is all about. I think you summed it up perfectly. Hodges Pond has always been about the adventure of discovering who you are in life thought the the experiences we go through both good and bad. It’s the relationships we have with our friends and our strengths and weakness’ that make and define who we are. Life is all about the good and the bad and learning to grow from each experience. Realizing just how much the people and experiences in or life enrich our existence. Thank you for the brilliant synopsis of the comic’s theme.
